DSDM® Philosophy

DSDM has a fundamental philosophy:

“Best business value emerges when projects are aligned to clear business goals, deliver frequently and involve the collaboration of motivated and empowered people.”

– DSDM Agile Project Framework, section 3.1

All elements in this philosophy (focus on business value, frequent delivery, collaboration, and empowerment) are reflected in the Agile Manifesto, and they are present in other Agile methods as well.

DSDM has a certain approach to project variables based on this philosophy, where time, cost, and quality are fixed, and scope is dynamic. This approach has a great impact on the whole methodology. A similar approach exists in other Agile methods, but never as strongly as it does in DSDM.

The DSDM philosophy becomes more concrete with the DSDM principles.
